Font Bundles / Design Bundleswww.FontBundles.net (sponsored link) My number one go to place for fonts is FontBundles. If you haven't heard of them, you can test the quality of fonts in the free section. There are some amazing font designers here. This website is different from other free font websites. You'll find special characters, such as glyphs, alternates and doodles that make your design look stunning. There are $1 Events held that you will NOT want to miss. Save even more by purchasing a Font Bundle and they're typically less than $1 each. My favorite font designers include Missy Meyer & Kitaleigh. The Plus Membership has a monthly fee and includes access to several downloads. Click "Designs" on their website to visit their huge selection of design files on DesignBundles.net. If it's your first time downloading fonts in a compressed zip folder, you can find our tutorial here on YouTube. Creative Fabricawww.CreativeFabrica.com (sponsored link) Creative Fabrica has $1 Discount Deals everyday. They change out to new ones about every 10 days or so. I have bought some fonts that cost $16 and purchased for $1. They also have a monthly membership that gives you access to fonts & designs. You can choose from a Pick 'N Mix bundle where you pay a small price and choose which fonts you'd like to bundle into a pack. There's a freebie section, free daily gifts, monthly bundles. The Hungry JPEGwww.TheHungryJPEG.com (sponsored link) At TheHungryJPEG, you can find a large section of $1 deals every single day! They also offer monthly bundles and freebies! The Friendly Crafters is not responsible for inaccurate prices listed here. Let’s talk vinyl! There are several types of vinyl including outdoor ‘permanent’ vinyl, indoor vinyl, and heat transfer vinyl. CRICUT & SILHOUETTE VINYL I don’t recommend buying cheap brands such as Cricut and Silhouette. They don’t seem to last and are low quality compared to brands like Oracal. OUTDOOR VINYL Outdoor vinyl, typically purchased in the brand Oracal 651 can be used for vehicles, windows, wood, plastic etc. It’s recommended for a permanent application and can be applied wet or dry. Oracal 651 claims to last up to 6 years, but it can last much longer without peeling / cracking, depending on it’s surface / weather. Fun fact: this is the same decal material Walmart uses for their decals! INDOOR VINYL Indoor vinyl, such as Oracal 631 is for temporary use. It’s great projects like decorating a window for holidays. The adhesive is different so it’s easier to remove. It’s the only vinyl you should use on walls, if you don’t want to remove the paint. It can be placed on windows, garage doors, plastic, wood, vehicles etc. HEAT TRANSFER VINYL Heat transfer vinyl, such as Siser Easyweed is applied with heat. It’s for materials such as cotton and nylon on T-shirt’s, hats, coozies, shoes etc. You can use an iron or a heat press. An iron will certainly do the job, but it will take longer and it may peel up if there’s not enough pressure. I highly recommend purchasing a heat press with your profits. It takes about 15 seconds to heat up a 12x12 design and the pressure can be adjusted. I’m able to heat press 6 coozies at once in 15 seconds! An accessory I’ve purchased is heat tape, it holds the design in place while I’m moving the material in position. I find it much easier to weed than regular vinyl. If it’s your first time applying heat transfer vinyl, you might feel scared! I know I did— so much that I practiced on a washcloth first. I recommend doing the same so you feel comfortable doing your first real project like a t-shirt. You should also remember to reverse your image before cutting, otherwise your words will appear backwards. The shiny side of HTV faces down. Is indoor/ outdoor vinyl dishwasher safe? This is a tricky question. It’s not at all recommended because it cannot withstand heat. However, I’ve done it because I don’t mind replacing the design if it ruins. I have washed mugs with vinyl (thick lettering / designs) after 30 days of settling. I tell customers to hand-wash only. I have successfully washed all of my creations multiple times in the dishwasher and have never replaced a design.
